Polymakr Update

Hello backers! We apologize for the lack of update in the past couple weeks. We have been extremely busy with production and shipping. Here are some brief updates:

The production of all the PolyMax PLA and PolyFlex for KickStarter has been finished. PolyWood is going a little slower than we expected, plus that our equipment was down most of last week due to maintenance. So there has been some delay because of that. The production has resumed and is going on well – we anticipate finishing the production for PolyWood in less than two weeks.

Reward Shipping

We have shipped almost all the rewards that contain PolyMax PLA and/or PolyFlex (with just a few exceptions), and a small portion of rewards with PolyWood. Over 500 (> 50% of the total) backers have received their rewards as I am writing now. The rest of the rewards will take another two weeks or so (as we can in average handle 30-40 packages per weekday) – so all backers should have their rewards by approximately the end of Aug.

Product Development

The first update is that we can now make PolyWood in different colors! How? As there is no actual wood (PolyWood mimics natural wood from its foamed structure) – we can color it whatever we want with the correct colorant(s). The surface finish is quite amazing!

There have been several other exciting breakthroughs. Some of them will have large impact on how people 3D print and how 3D printing can be used for. We have 3-4 entirely new products planned for the next year, and you, KickStarter backers, will be the first ones able to try and buy them!

About Us

We will be moving into a new, 1800 square meter (~ 20,000 square foot) facility at the end of this month. This is really exciting to us, as we will have more space to grow and do more exciting things. This would not be possible without the help from all the backers – so thank you again!

I’m impressed with the quality of the prints, and the filament. what printer was used for the example pictures?

Hi Chey – we have printed several polymaker prints during testing using the Big Box – Wanhao 4 and UM 2 Clone, it is a great material to work with.
