Brendan here and I am back for another update.
We will be show casing our latest version of printers at CE week. The printers with auto calibration, new bed material, new spooling tub and other improvements are in there.
If you happen to be there or know anyone going there, I suggest taking a look see for yourself and to see the work that we have put into the machine and how much we have improved from the beta batch.
The proof is in the pudding.
Improvements we have been working on
Mechanical Assemblies: Improved heat flow, reduced noise from motors by tuning drivers, higher quality linear rails for reliability, various internal casings to protect users from any form of discharge / emissions.
Electronics: Major work being done on the boards now. Integration of boards. Shifting into NAND images so that we don’t suffer from SSID corruption (like in some Beta units). Reworking the board design to be more energy efficient and also safer for certification. This is just the tip of the iceberg, there are too many things we are improving right now electronics side for me to go into.
Software: Smartobjects is now working on iOS. We are working on improving the slicer and various embedded systems areas to reduce waiting time and increase the robustness of the machine as a whole.

Our commitment to you
We are fully committed to giving you a product which works reliably and we can all get behind proudly. We do not want to give you a “beta” type printer which is not tested fully and working well.
Improvements take time. Each time we do a change, we place all the printers under life reliability tests (which you will see in photos below). We have no choice because this is the only way we can ensure that changes we make, truly improve the product we are trying to put out.
Because of the delays, we will honor refunds closer to year end if the printers do not go out by then. The reason it takes a while to give you refunds is because your money has been parked for materials orders and have been committed already. When we move into revenues, we will use that to refund those who do not wish to wait for their printers.
Some of you have PMed me with good intentions and queried about cash flow especially since there are delays. We are well underway with raising some funds to support us operationally. We have split up the funds for manufacturing purposes and for the daily run of the company to manage it easier and cleaner.
I am truly sorry for the delays we are putting all of you through right now. The reasons are many but I do not wish to go into all of them at this juncture. We have pride in our work and what we do not want is to put a printer on your desk that air prints after 30 minutes.
What we do not want is for you to come back and say the Kickstarter backers got a crippled piece of hardware.
What we do not want is for you to look at the printers that will be in retail and say that we did not take care of those who helped us start this project.
What we do want, however, is to make this right. Build a consumer level printer which both you and we can enjoy.
I admit it is taking far, far, far longer than we expected. We are bound by 24 hours a day and some of the tests we do to check improvement quality takes days and some, weeks.
At the end of the day, this is a journey for us and also for you backers. We have been in a valley for quite some time but are grateful for all those of you who have stood by us. The work we are putting in is there for you to see and we have nothing to hide.
For those who have lost faith in us, I truly am sorry and unlike some other projects, we will honor refunds to you for your troubles.
All I can say at this juncture is for you to hold on, the 3d printer you funded has changed so much from when we came onto Kickstarter. The quality of parts inside is far beyond what we originally intended and it will be worth the wait.
1) Can I change my address?
Before we ship out anything to you, we will do a round of checks to ensure you are where you are, don’t worry about this.
2) When will I get my printer?
We do not know because there are some dates which are not firm yet. Stay tuned and this will be clearer as time goes by.
