Description
ASA X is a modified ASA (Acrylic Styrene Acrylonitrile) 3D Desktop printing filament.
ASA X has been developed specifically for outdoor use. The benefits of using ASA have always been its high impact and high temperature resistance, coupled with its UV resistance properties. Now with ASA X you have all these great qualities in a formula that is easier to print, available in several standard colours and at a very reasonable price.
The test sample you can see in the product photo was printed on the open style e3D Big Box 3D printer which is a semi enclosed unit. The printing temperature was at 235c and the platform was heated to 80c, with a very fine layer of 3DLac adhesion spray.
There was very little “tweaking” of the standard “ABS” settings when using our Simplify 3D slicing software. Which is a plus, because of the historical issues sometimes found when printing with regular ASA filament. There was also very minimum warping (if any that was visible on this test print) which was sometimes a past characteristic when printing with ASA filament. Another plus of ASA X is the issues with “cooling” with users having to change setting during prints to ease up or speed up cooling. With the new ASA X this is no longer and issue. No fan 1st layer, 60% fan after, good to go. Though this may be model dependent.
Although there is a very low odour to the FilaPrint ASA X, and it does smell semi sweet, you should as with all 3D printing materials undertake your printing in a well ventilated, spacious environment, more so when printing with materials like ASA, ABS, HIPS, Vinyl etc.
ASA material has been around for some time, we read somewhere it was developed by BASF, though now is the perfect time to introduce a 3D printing filament, which is perfect for outdoor use to your own 3D printing toolbox.
This 1Kg spool is packaged in a sealed clear cellophane, then sealed again inside a cardboard box. We also provide a re-sealable bag to use once the spool has been opened. As it is always best practice to keep all your filaments dry and away from excessive moisture, some more than others. You do however have the choice NOT to receive one of our bags if you have enough of them already! Just make that choice during the product selection.
The price you see is the price you pay, postage has already been included!
