PLA is easy to print, at low cost. Non-toxic and Eco friendly. A perfect starting point for people new to 3D printing.

PLA is created from all-natural renewable resources, and under the correct conditions, is fully biodegradable. This material is typically used for prototypes or decorative prints; Due to the low temperatures and ease of use, features tend to print sharper and more detailed. Its non-toxic nature means that it can be printed for food and medical applications if done so from a sterile and sanitized environment.
However, PLA prints are prone to snapping and breaking under pressure, and become damaged and discolored from high temperatures and prolonged exposure to sunlight or water.

Used for: Design prototypes, Plastic Cups, Medical Implants, Food containers.

3 reviews for 3D FilaPrint Iron Grey Premium PLA 1.75mm 3D Printer Filament

  1. 5 out of 5

This filament prints amazingly well, possibly the easiest to print with I have used. The color is very pleasing, I have printed a few mechanical parts, and they have come out amazing. see the photos in: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1642930 And a Moai statue: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:144668 This PLA prints a little cooler than most others, on my machine as low as 180, in comparison to normal 195 – 210. I would recommend PID tuning M303 S190, C8 as a matter of course, which can help remove some of the ‘wood grain effect’ One thing, it is slightly more flexible than the FilaPrint Ripe Orange Premium, which I love.

    Great finish

Absolutely lovely finish to prints with a cast iron look. I’m on my third spool and use it a lot. The photo shows a 3-way connector for 16 mm aluminium tubing to make a sun canopy
