3D FilaPrint Natural 1.75mm HIPS 3D Printing Filament

What is Supporting Material? HIPS 3D Printing Filament is a High Impact Polystyrene that can be used to make otherwise impossible shapes and models on your 3D Desktop printer.  Our printed photo sample in the gallery shows HIPS being used along with our Purple ABS 1.75mm (although the photo reflection makes the ABS look pink)! The object was printed on the MakerBot Replicator 2 X, with both extruders running at 235c and the build plate with Kapton at 115c.  All the sides and lid were left on the printer to keep in the heat and the room in which the object was printed was at an ambient temperature, 2 shells and 10% infill finished of the settings.  Standard resolution. The print took 2 hours and 4 minutes.

Note: You should wait until the printed object has cooled, as HIPS stays quite soft until cold, before you attempt to handle the object. Once the part was created (2nd attempt as the bed needed to be cleaned again).  You then soak the object in a liquid known as Limonene for approximately 11 hours. When the HIPS has dissolved you should wash the printed part thoroughly with clean water.  The smell of Spanish oranges lingers for ages!
