PC-ABS

PC-ABS  is an incredibly strong filament with an even higher impact resistance than our regular ABS. This is a consequence of the addition of the proper amount of polycarbonate in this modification, which also creates a nearly perfect interlayer adhesion and a beautiful surface gloss. The above features, combined with a highly stable printing process makes PC-ABS  the perfect material for mechanical parts and tools, which should be light and strong and show minimal wear after prolonged use.

Material features:
Improved interlayer adhesion
High impact resistance
High surface gloss
Stable printing process

Note:  An enclosed 3D printer is better for printing high temp filaments.  Though if your 3D printer is not enclosed, not to worry, you could try turning down any external extruder fan speed to under 15%, plus we have even covered our “open” 3D printers with a cardboard box, coupled with a peek hole, just to keep the warmth in!

ABS

Overview

Strong and robust. Heat and chemical resilient. An Inexpensive choice for engineering-grade prints.

ABS has solid mechanical properties in the form of heat and impact resistance. Its high durability makes it perfect for printing moving and weight-bearing parts. ABS is shatter resistant; when pushed to its limit parts will bend or warp instead of snapping or shattering. ABS has decent chemical sustainability, making it resilient to sunlight, moisture, acids, and oils. Long exposure to sunlight may cause prints to degrade, making ASA a better choice for outdoor prints.

ABS is quite a common material making it relatively inexpensive whilst also being built to last in tough environments. The main detriment is that it can be quite difficult to print with, and can require printer tuning to get the perfect print.
Printed parts can be polished with acetone, giving them a smooth and glossy finish and hiding layer lines. When printing with this material, it is possible that toxic fumes are produced. This can be circumvented by printing In a well-ventilated area or using an extractor.

Used for: Injection molding, LEGO, electronic casings, automotive parts.

    Good for structural parts

First I was annoyed with myself as I thought I was buying 1Kg, but when I used it, it prints well. I had to print at 260C as my extruder doesn’t want to go above 262C, glass bed at 100C, No glue or slurry, but it stuck well. Strange colours in the photo are reflections from the lights in my room. Print is strong, with excellent layer adhesion. It seems to be an excellent filament for printing where component strength is important.
