Description
Polypropylene White
PP is an easy to print general purpose low density Polypropylene. PP has been developed for its mechanical performance and a superb layer adhesion. PP high stretch ability, decent flexibility and chemical/fatigue resistance makes it suitable for a variety of household articles and containers. PP can also be used for engineering articles such as living-hinges and snap-fit fastener materials. Lastly PP can be used to print dishwasher & microwave safe objects. PP is a cost-effective all round filament suitable for a broad variety of needs.
Features:
High chemical & Fatique resistance
High elongation before break
Superb layer adhesion
Suitable for food contact articles
Dishwasher & Microwave safe
Additional info: PP does not adhere to any print sticker well enough to counteract warp on large objects, therefore we recommend a Polypropylene sheet (inexpensive) so that no heated bed is required. Adherence improves when the first layer temperature is higher. Printing with a raft improves bottom layer removal and evens out any rough/raised areas on the PP sheet or sellotape (see below). Polypropylene can be used on most common desktop FDM or FFF technology 3D printers. Storage: Cool and dry (15-25C) and away from UV light. This enhances the shelf life significantly.
Note: On advice from a customer PP can also be printed on Sellotape, obviously on the back and not on the sticky side!
Polypropylene (PP), also known as polypropene, is a thermoplastic polymer used in a wide variety of applications. An addition polymer made from the monomer propylene, it can be produced in a variety of structures giving rise to applications including packaging and labeling, textiles, plastic parts and reusable containers of various types, laboratory equipment, automotive components, and medical devices. It is a white, mechanically rugged material, and is resistant to many chemical solvents, bases and acids.[1]
In 2013, the global market for polypropylene was about 55 million tonnes.[2] Polypropylene is the world’s second-most widely produced synthetic plastic, after polyethylene.
