A brand new composite material from taulman3D, Glass Fiber Alloy Nylon prints easily at 255C and offers exceptional strength and thermal resistance.  

The material improves upon other glass fiber nylon options in the marketplace by using a custom glass fiber fill percentage and a premium nylon blend to achieve excellent printing characteristics and surface finish.  Every roll of material is manufactured in the United States.

Nylon

Overview

Highly durable, flexible material.

Nylon has high impact and abrasion resistance; offering a high amount of tensile strength whilst also being a flexible material. It is one of the most heat-stable filaments, remaining unchanged in high temperature environments. 

It is hygroscopic, meaning that the filament will absorb moisture easily which will cause prints to warp and fail. This can be circumvented by keeping the filament in an air-tight, dry environment. Nylon can warp easily; depending on the printer and slicer used, some trial and error may be needed to prevent this. Printed items will degrade from UV radiation if left in sunlight for long periods of time.

Used for: Gears, Screws, and Cable ties.

Some manufacturers provide PA6 & PA12 Nylons, PA12 has increased moisture stability and is more resistant to moisture absorption. The same applies to Nylon 66 compared to Nylon 6.

    I am always on the lookout for new and better materials for my small combat robots. For some time I have been using Taulman Alloy 910 for its strength and impact resistance but the very flex that enables it to absorb impacts means it is not stiff enough for some structural uses. Recently I have found your Nylon CF15 Carbon Fibre which gave a much better structural stiffness while still printing very easily. But this Glass Fibre Alloy Nylon gives the same mechanical properties and ease of printing but with two great advantages. First it prints on a bed at 55 C where the CF15 requires 80 C. ( my printer takes ages to get the bed up to the higher temp. ) Second being white rather than black it is possible to colour it using nylon clothes dye. Below are a couple of small components printed in the CF15 and the glass fibre alloy nylon with one part dyed orange,
