PA12 + CF15

NYLON PA12 + CF is yet another manifestation of the technical capabilities of filament PA12 which has been reinforced with a 15% addition of carbon fibers. It is characterised by high thermal resistance and less shrinkage compared to the unmodified Nylon PA12.

The application of carbon fiber allows for a reduction of weight of the component while maintaining its high structural stiffness.

PA12 + CF has a range of applications across the industry, including the automotive and the engineering sectors, lending itself to the creation of advanced prototypes, drones and final products which require increased durability while reducing their weight.


It is recommended hardened nozzles are used when regularly printing with Carbon Fibre infused 3D printing filaments.  Plus ALWAYS keep your filaments (especially Nylon based) dry. Thanks to its resistance to high temperatures, alcohol and chemicals, Nylon is particularly useful for mechanical and technical applications. It is extremely durable, strong and unbreakable. It is easily machined with tools designed for metal processing and it is also easily painted, which makes it even more versatile and functional.

It is incredibly flexible it expands by 50% before it breaks. However, it is not resistant to concentrated alkali’s and acids.

Properties of PA12 filament




Highly durable, flexible material.

Nylon has high impact and abrasion resistance; offering a high amount of tensile strength whilst also being a flexible material. It is one of the most heat-stable filaments, remaining unchanged in high temperature environments. 

It is hygroscopic, meaning that the filament will absorb moisture easily which will cause prints to warp and fail. This can be circumvented by keeping the filament in an air-tight, dry environment. Nylon can warp easily; depending on the printer and slicer used, some trial and error may be needed to prevent this. Printed items will degrade from UV radiation if left in sunlight for long periods of time.

Used for: Gears, Screws, and Cable ties.

Some manufacturers provide PA6 & PA12 Nylons, PA12 has increased moisture stability and is more resistant to moisture absorption. The same applies to Nylon 66 compared to Nylon 6.
