Description

Haydale’s SynerG nanomaterial enhanced polylactic acid (PLA) filament is available in 1.75mm and 2.85mm diameters.  The major benefits of this newly designed PLA based material are:

  • Excellent first layer adhesion and z axis strength retention
  • Major increase in speed of processing
  • Improved strength and stiffness
  • Better impact performance
  • Excellent print quality and surface finish
  • Improved dimensional accuracy
  • Compatibility with a broad range of printers and ease of use

The mechanical, electrical, thermal and physical properties of the graphene enhanced PLA filaments can be tailored to meet the needs of different applications and markets.

Processing Guidance:

• SynerG SuperTough PLA 3D printing filament can be processed on all FDM/FFF type 3D printers.

• SynerG SuperTough PLA 3D printing filament should typically be extruded using a nozzle temperature of 208°C to 210°C, and a heated bed temperature of 55°C to 58°C is recommended for good first layer adhesion in 3D printing.

• SynerG SuperTough PLA 3D printing filament should be printed at 60mm/sec, and no less than 50 mm/sec, with 100% fan on using a 0.4mm brass or tungsten carbide nozzle.

• SynerG SuperTough PLA 3D printing filament should not be left hot in the nozzle when not printing and should be removed using a forward purge followed by retraction.

• 3D printers, especially their nozzles, should always be maintained, and should be cleaned before and after use in line with the printer manufacturer’s instructions.

PLA

Overview

PLA is easy to print, at low cost. Non-toxic and Eco friendly. A perfect starting point for people new to 3D printing.

PLA is created from all-natural renewable resources, and under the correct conditions, is fully biodegradable. This material is typically used for prototypes or decorative prints; Due to the low temperatures and ease of use, features tend to print sharper and more detailed. Its non-toxic nature means that it can be printed for food and medical applications if done so from a sterile and sanitized environment.
However, PLA prints are prone to snapping and breaking under pressure, and become damaged and discolored from high temperatures and prolonged exposure to sunlight or water.

Used for: Design prototypes, Plastic Cups, Medical Implants, Food containers.

I’ve had a couple of samples of this stuff, so when I saw it was on sale for 50% off I thought “Why not?” The blades for the Dough Scrapers in the photo is printed from it. All in all I’m pretty happy with it, it prints very cleanly and easily on my Zortrax M200+s and it really is strong stuff. It’s not really black, it’s more of a verrrrry dark metallic blue and it’s very easy to sand and finish. My only criticism is that there’s no note, on the reel or the box, of the extruder or bed heat settings. Thankfully they’re listed here (thank you 3D FIlaprint!): extruder temp I set to 210C, the bed to 58C. All in all if you need a stronger filament then this is very much one to have a go with!
