T-glase is a versatile 3D printing filament made of FDA-approved polymers suitable for direct food contact. It has low shrinkage and is easy to print on acrylic, glass, Kapton, and other platforms. T-glase has no odors or fumes during printing and is considered colorless and “water clear”. However, its low glass transition temperature means parts printed in t-glase should not be exposed to high-temperature applications. The company is accumulating data on its strength and working on providing documentation for FDA-related requirements. Though not biodegradable like PLA, t-glase is 100% reclaimable and can be mixed with discarded clear water bottles for reuse.

Overview of the Optics and Light-Pipe features of t-glase

Click here for information for 3D Printer operators, a general scope of the optical and
esthetic capabilities of t-glase.

t-glase is an easy print 3D Printer Filament. As it bonds so well, its not a problem like ABS/PLA

The main features of t-glase, all information was provided by Tom @taulman 3D

Strength – First, as its a taulman3D industrial line, it has to be strong and we, along with our local testers and some selected industrial testers, are very pleased with the strength of t-glase, especially with the larger nozzles used on industrial units.

FDA approved  t-glase is specifically made of FDA approved polymers for direct food contact/containers.  This includes cups and other liquid storage parts as well as utensils.
Environmental – While t-glase is not biodegradable like PLA, it is a material thats considered 100% reclaimable.  Thus the new struders that convert failed prints back to usable line work perfectly with t-glase.  If you have a struder, you can actually mix in 12% of the total weight in discarded clear water bottles.
Clarity  like 645 nylon, t-glases clarity supports industrys requirements for non-destructive evaluation of 3D Printed parts.
Shrinkage –  Very low shrinkage makes printing large flat surfaces a breeze.  And it easily prints to acrylic, glass, Kapton and other platforms.
Bridging –  Those of us that have printed with acrylics and polycarbonates are always envious of their bridging capabilities due to glass temperature.  And the new t-glase is very impressive at bridging.
Fumes – Unlike some lines, there are no odours or fumes when 3D Printing with t-glase.

More information on colouring your own t-glase

t-glass will come in clear as clear is a natural colour for this polymer.  We will begin to offer t-glass in colours around the end of the year.
Im sure most of you are familiar with RichRap, i.e. Richard Horne as one of the reprap communities leaders in colour.  Richard released an excellent piece on colour dying the taulman nylons and with the release of t-glase, Richard has signed on to be our colour expert.  He will provide direction on an initial colour set and applicable pigments.  In that t-glass is so clear, we expect Richard will continue to impress us all with his colour touch.
t-glase is very strong, yet different from our nylons as its stiff, like PLA and ABS.   And based on our first industrial trials, meets all the requirements for the three industrial customers that had an applicable need.   To these customers, the clarity was a significant advantage for their quality control departments.

What will you print today

A versatile middle ground between PLA and ABS.

PET-G Is stronger than PLA but easier to print with than ABS. The glycol in this material makes the filament less brittle and resistant to water, chemicals, and solvents. It is naturally clear, making it the go-to filament for translucent prints.
The strength and durability of a PET-G filament vary depending on the brand. An easy way to check if one PET-G is stronger than another is by comparing the tensile strength value of each filament. If printed in a sterile, FDA-approved environment, PET-G can be used to create food-safe prints.

Due to its strong and durable nature, PET-G can be difficult to finish with post-processing methods such as sanding. Prints may also be difficult to paint or glue together. Depending on printer and slicer settings, you may experience small hairs over the surface of prints caused by stringing. These can be removed with a heat gun or lighter.

Used for: Water Bottles, Plant Pots.
